Hi, all :D
This week, we went to KL to attend the photography exhibition 'Grit & grace' by Malaysian professional photojournalist 'SC Shekar'. Mr. Martin asked us to choose 3 favourite from his photographs and explain why. Also, he asked us to write our thoughts on Mr. Shekar's talk as well.
Most of his photographs were master pieces so it was really hard to choose. But, I chose the one that moved my heart the most. So, take a look at them!

1. Firstly, I like the composition of this photograph. Usually, many photographers put the main subject off-centre but Mr. Shekar put two little kids in the centre so, he emphasises the two kids who facing each other more interestingly. Moreover, I also like how he tried to show the image of the countryside with taking photo of little sister holding her baby brother. Also, the reflected trees on river makes the photo interesting too.

2. What I like about this photograph is the angle. Mr. Shekar previously told us that he had to get in to the helicopter when he takes photos on the upper right and, I think it's really cool because not everyone can take a photos from this kind of angle. Also, I also like many lines that appears in the photo and how all those lines are leaded to the centre. All small and tiny building are eye catching .

3. What I like about this photo is the curvy road in the middle. It's getting narrower as it goes down and it makes my eyes follow this curvy line from top to bottom of the road. Other than that, I also like how this photograph creates sense of the depth between the mountain and ground. Interestingly, I could also feel perspective of mountains and it gives different tones of grey.
MY THOUGHTS ON MR.SHEKAR'S TALK :
Firstly, I was kind of surprised when he told us that he even boarded a helicopter and rode around the different states in Malaysia to take some of photographs which are in his exhibition for about 3 years. I think that's really amazing because if he didn't have serious passion for photography, he won't put that much efforts for it. Also, at this end of his talk, he said really impressive and important thing to us. He asked us "If you don't have to pay for anything in this world, what would you do?" I would answer 'I might do what I like and what I have been dreaming about. since I don't have to worry about the money.' Yes, he wanted to tell us that if we keep following our dreams and do what makes us happy then, the money will follow us itself. And, he told us his story of how he decided to be a photographer although he studied law in university and how he held this exhibition and even published his own photography book with the help from sponsors. It was really encouraged me and I could deeply think about my dream, passion and future again. I really appreciate to his impressive talk for us!
Overall, I really enjoyed looking at his nice photographs and I hope we can attend more and more exhibitions during this semester!
Bye Bye
